So welcome to my new blog. Yes it's about cancer, but hopefully about other things that crop up as well. A quick history for those that don't know me. I work and live in London in one of the poorer paid areas of the media. I first got testicular cancer in 1998, and after successful surgery and Chemotherapy, I was in remission until last year. After a summer of festivals and travelling I managed to get a cough which wouldn't go away. Finally I went to my GP and was sent for a chest x-ray. A large tumour had appeared in my left lung and heart. I spent from October to March having more Chemotherapy and some pretty major surgery.
My cancer decided to have the summer off, go to Ibiza and drink 7 euro beers at Space. In August it decided to come back again. As I've had so much treatment my consultant decided on the nuclear option. High Dose Chemotherapy with Stem Cell therapy. I'm currently between phase one and phase two of this treatment, which is at Bart's in the City of London.
The idea of this blog is to let folk know what is happening with my cancer, try and keep mentally healthy through it all and hopefully shed some light on a scary subject, especially male cancers which don't get half the attention they should.
